It’s been a long while but if last year is anything to go by, being able to open on April 12th, the beach will be the place to be. Not only that, we want to help you make the most of the early season we will be offering a free paddle boarding session when booking onto our ‘ let’s get out there’  taster programme. Plus, you will be able to marvel at our woodworking skills and new decked area when you come down. But first, what happens when we open?

Based upon government regulations combined with good practice guidelines as part of being an accredited ASI paddle board centre of excellence we will be able to open on April 12th for group sizes of six (including an instructor) from the same household. While some of our lessons can run almost as normal the greatest impact occurs with our Hawaiian Canoe Tours – because we keep our lessons small and personal as a matter of good practice, class sizes are only marginally reduced in size although, who can take part in the class at the same time will change for a while. Because we sit within two metres in our Hawaiian Canoe this is where we will see the greatest change in activities using this craft (details below). Keys dates will be:

Stage one – March 29th

What we are able to offer:

  • one to one sessions
  • bookings for lessons on our stand up paddle boards, tours (SUP, kayak and Hawaiian Canoe*) for up to five people from two different households
  • social distancing measures still apply – * this means that tours in our Hawaiian Canoe can only be offered to same group household

Government Legislation:

  • while local travel is still encouraged we will be able to meet outdoors with others from two other households
  • travel restrictions lifted

Stage two – April 12th

What we are able to offer:

  • rule of six remains but we can now run lessons with two different households in the same class
  • social distancing measures still apply * this means that tours in our Hawaiian Canoe can only be offered to same group household

Government Legislation:

  • UK holidays of same household in self contained accommodation will be allowed

Stage three – May 17th

What we are able to offer:

  • Class sizes and tours return to normal with mixed groups of different households (instructor ratios 1:8)
  • Social distancing restrictions lifted – we can now offer tours in our Hawaiian canoe to groups from different households

Government Legislation:

  • International travel resumes as well as UK B&B’s open etc

Stage four – June 21st

What we are able to offer:

  • all restrictions are lifted, yay!
  • We will continue with our online booking system as well as booking flow on the beach

What if…?

Obviously these dates are the earliest we can commence these activities, and importantly, contingent upon four criteria:

  1. The coronavirus vaccine programme continues to go to plan
  2. Vaccines are sufficiently reducing the number of people dying or needing hospital treatment
  3. Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospital admissions
  4. New coronavirus variants do not fundamentally change the risk of lifting restrictions

Let’s Get Out There…!

As if we needed any excuses to take an opportunity to get back out on the water we’ve made it even easier. We are giving away a free paddleboard session for those who block book all three of our sessions in advance; when you do, the third is free! If that isn’t enough, you will be using our brand new Starboard paddleboards, a brand globally renowned for its innovative technologies and eco-credentials, as well as top-of-the-range lightweight paddles. We can also include wetsuits but, if you have your own please bring it.

Sessions will be run on consecutive Saturdays 10 am on April 17th, 24th, and May 1st; we have a maximum of fifteen spaces available. These sessions are for first-time or novice paddlers; the first session will be an introduction to paddleboarding (SUP), we will teach you the quickest way to get up and all the tricks of the trade-in helping you to stay up. Each session will progress your skills and knowledge of safety out on the water giving you the confidence to paddle at other locations independently.

So what’s stopping you, book up today and get your free paddle session.

Wood Working Skills

Being located on the beach offers a unique experience to our customers but his also carries with it vulnerability to winter time storms, particularly, when spring high tides, large swells and strong northerly wind coalesce. To help safe guard our big kit during the winter and provide a bigger multi purpose area we spent a few months this year adding additional storm protection. Finn, one of our National champion paddlers we coach and team member down at the beach provided the brawn for some serious digging action to get our 8m posts in. I think you will agree the hard work paid off. Having survived a winter of labouring I think Finn is more keen to start his Uni course in Loughborough this winter. Finn we will miss you!
