Activities for Groups at Ocean Sports Centre
AT OCEAN SPORTS CENTRE OUR GROUP ACTIVITIES ARE THE PERFECT WAY TO ENTERTAIN AT THE BEACH.
Our traditional four-man and six-man Hawaiian canoes are great for getting teams of people out on the water and messing around. As are our giant 8 person Mega SUP’s!
Our group activities are none stop fun packed multi-experience packages. A smorgasbord of water sports are to be had from single SUP and Mega SUP Races to kayak chaos and Hawaiian canoeing with a bit of walking the Ama for thrills – with half day and full day options available we are able to cater for all your needs whether you are a small group, an extended family, a school or stag & hen groups looking for some daytime entertainment.
Our group sessions are created by working with you and coming up with a bespoke set of activities tailored to your group’s requirements and abilities. For unforgettable beach parties packed with fun and frolics, book your kids birthday parties with us at the Ocean Sports Centre. The tranquil waters of Carbis Bay are perfect for playing and exploring on our Giant SUP, Hawaiian Canoe – we can even include an additional option of a BBQ for you. You can be certain that your child can truly treat their friends to a full-on, hands-on ocean-bound adventure.
Although not all activities require the ability to swim we do ask that youngsters are able to swim 50m and they’ll be set to see the coast like never before. Session length is up to two hours, a minimum group size of five, minimum age 8yrs+ (under-eights to be accompanied by a parent/guardian).

Our fully qualified discipline-specific and NARS Beach Lifeguard qualified instructors are DBS checked so they can safely work with youngsters at children’s birthday parties.

Carbis Bay is a unique learning environment allowing you to experience Fun filled group activities with the flexibility to develop water confidence, learn more about the marine environment and beach safety. Or we can run the socks off them all afternoon with our very special Beach Olympics!

Giant SUP
Side-splitting fun, your legs won’t stop wobbling and you won’t stop laughing either. The Mega SUP is a massive version of normal SUP but it can take up to eight people.
Kayak chaos
Fast, fun and furious! Paddle as individuals in a group, or in double kayaks. Our Kayaks are perfect to develop paddling confidence while exploring our coastline either as a first time experience or to help develop skills.
Stand up and paddle
Simply the coolest way to move around on the water Hawaiian style! Small groups learn the unique experience of walking on water, a great way to see the bay without necessarily getting wet!
Hawaiian explorer
The ultimate paddling experience, in our unique Hawaiian canoe work as a team, to explore beaches around the St. Ives Bay, looking for fools gold and passing sunfish.

We are a one-stop-shop for your stag or hen party because we can arrange a wide variety of unique activities tailored to your group. We can take care of your whole day or half; with fully qualified staff with a full range of activities from Ultimate Stag or Hen, Giant SUP, Hawaiian Canoe or simply cruise out on our SUPs or kayaks. MEGA SUP
Our two Mega SUP’s are the most fun you can have out on the water as a group or family all together – whether its bombing around the bay, sunning yourselves while sitting or laying on the board or simply using it as a dive platform you will return with broad grins and jelly like legs!
Please be aware that for your safety a minimum age is required (8yrs) and that hire must be supervised by an adult – please ask our team at the beach if you have any alternative requirements.

Kayak Explorer Tour
Our sit-on kayaks are the perfect craft to get up close and personal with the magical coastline of St Ives Bay. Your tour guide will be able to take you over toward the bustling harbour of St. Ives taking in Bamaluz and Porthgwidden beach.
On the tour, you might see some of the local common seals who are globally rare frequenting Porthminster point or even see a sun fish breach! If you are really lucky you might get a special glimpsing of one of our family of indigenous bottle nose dolphins who live in the bay as they hunt and play.
The Kayak Coastal Explorer lasts for approximately 2hrs and will give you a unique view of the St Ives Coastline… don’t forget your GoPro!

Hawaiian Canoe
If you want flexibility to paddle all together or cover longer distances with greater ease then our Hawaiian Canoes are the go. Sat on seats above the water in an open decked canoe is ideal for families and groups and better suited to anyone where sitting in a kayak affects their back. With its additional outrigger arm this super stable craft is fantastic for the less gun hoe out on the water. Chances of getting wet; zero (unless you choose to ‘walk the Ama’).
Each canoe is booked individually, we can take a minimum of two people or up five in either one of our four or six person canoes

- Wetsuits are not required for this craft – please make sure that you have a change of clothes just in case your partner splashes you!
We have two tour options for you; Sea Life Explorer (1hr within Carbis bay beach) and the Coastal Explorer (2hrs, beyond the bay!).
