About

The Ocean Sports Centre was borne out of passion for the ocean.

What we do:

Based at the stunning beach of Carbis Bay, St’Ives, Cornwall we provide a variety of water and beach based activities catering for the first time paddler to group and family tours in, single and double kayaks or share the experience in our four and six man Hawaiian canoe.

For those who would like a little more adrenaline on a day at the beach we can take groups out surfing in the Hawaiian canoe (the only place this is done in the UK), learn how to walk on water with our one to one Stand Up Paddle board (SUP) lessons, or literally walk on the water from the beach in a Zorb ball!

My History:

All my life I have spent hundreds of thousands of hours in and on the water. From a little grom cycling six miles to Fistral beach armed with a boogie board, fluorescent zinc sunblock and enough jam sandwiches to keep me going for eight hours! To the slightly more serious International competition as a surf ironman in Surf Life Saving, European medalists along with training and racing as part of the British Olympic Racing Squad in sprint kayak (k4 1000m).

Over a life time spent immersed in the ocean, competing, working as a professional beach lifeguard in the UK and Australia, surfing whichever craft I can get my hands on I have developed a unique set of skills. My family and the ocean are my passion, I firmly believe that everyone is capable of getting out in the sea experiencing things they would never have thought able to – the Ocean Sports Centre is the vehicle to do this.

Our Vision:

We want to inspire people to get out on the water irrelevant of age or ability and simply enjoy the magnificant coastal environment of St’Ives. In short, to get a buz out of being active in a unique way. Over the coming years we will be expanding our provision from kayak hire, Ocean Quest (aquatic ecology), Hawaiian Canoe surfing, SUP to Wind Surfing, Sailing, Coastering and much more.
